McDaniels, 32, has reached an agreement to take over for Mike Shanahan, who was fired late last month after 14 years with Denver, according to multiple reports.
McDaniels is a rising star who has spent his entire eight-year NFL coaching career in New England, where he worked his way up from personnel assistant in the scouting department to offensive coordinator for Bill Belichick.
Playoffs: : With the Ravens, Arizona and Philadelphia all winning away from home, it marked the first time since 1971 - and only second time overall - that three road teams won on the same weekend in the playoffs, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
During the weekend of Dec. 25-26, 1971, the Baltimore Colts won, 20-3, at Cleveland, Miami edged Kansas City, 27-24, in overtime, and Dallas topped Minnesota, 20-12. The only home team to win that weekend was San Francisco, which defeated Washington, 24-20. The Cowboys went on to beat the Dolphins, 24-3, in the Super Bowl that season.
Panthers: : Players and coaches voiced strong support for quarterback Jake Delhomme the morning after he threw a career-high five interceptions and lost a fumble in what was perhaps the worst performance of his NFL career.
"He had a bad game," coach John Fox said of Delhomme's play against Arizona. "He didn't have a bad season. He's not a bad quarterback. It happens."
Rams: : Minnesota defensive coordinator-assistant head coach Leslie Frazier will interview with team ownership tomorrow in Los Angeles for St. Louis' coaching vacancy, NFL sources told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Saturday evening.
That means Frazier has a "bye" into the finals. He will not undergo a preliminary interview. Instead, he joins Jim Haslett as the second known finalist in the Rams' coaching search.
