The Columbia Art Center Galleries and Little Patuxent Review will present a program on "Native American Traditions and Healing Ceremonies," with artist, author and dancer Henry E. Niese, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at the art center, 6100 Foreland Garth, in the Long Reach Village Center.

Admission is free, and reservations are not required.

The presentation is part of a continuing series sponsored by Little Patuxent Review and Columbia Art Center Galleries.

'Spitfire' shows

The Red Branch Theatre Company, the adult theater company at Drama Learning Center, will present the musical, The Spitfire Grill, Jan. 23 through Feb. 8.

The play follows the story of a young vagabond who starts a new life in a rural Wisconsin community and revives the quiet town.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturday; 3 p.m. Sundays, with an additional performance at 8 p.m. Feb. 5. Tickets are $18; $15 for seniors and students, and $14 for groups of 10 or more. Reservations are recommended.

Help needed : A-OK (Assist Our Kids) Mentoring/Tutoring Program is recruiting volunteers to work with Howard County elementary and middle schools. Volunteers are needed during school hours and after school until 6 p.m. Volunteers should be able to dedicate an hour a week for a school year. Single again : "Changing Focus/Single Again," a nonprofit program for adults who are separated, widowed or in the process of divorce, provides weekly presentations and small-group discussions in a confidential, comfortable atmosphere. The group meets at 7:30 p.m. Mondays at First Presbyterian Church, 9325 Presbyterian Circle.
