You posted six solo tackles, a forced fumble and two pass breakups in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Was that your best performance of the season?
I think it was OK. It could have been better. I didn't get an interception. I want an interception - bad. That's what we get paid to do - take the ball away. And I had chances. I probably had three or four.
How does it feel to contribute to and solidify a secondary that was a question mark in the offseason?
It feels great. [Secondary coach] Chuck Pagano was just telling us today that this is probably one of the highest [rankings] that the secondary has finished the regular season since Rex [Ryan, assistant head coach-defensive coordinator] has been here. It feels good to be a part of that. This defense is full of heroes. Unsung heroes like a Marques Douglas.
Do you feel you might have vindicated yourself after critics questioned whether you could be a quality cornerback?
They really never doubted me. All of those guys told me that it's all about situations and what type of person people look for. Here, they look for guys that don't take much to be challenged, hard-nosed guys. That's the kind of corner I am, that's all.
Is it true that you majored in mechanical engineering at Tuskegee University?
I started out as a mechanical engineer, but then I switched to business marketing and mathematics because there was a conflict in my schedule with regards to football practice. I'm good with numbers.
You graduated No. 6 out of a class of 394 at Booker T. Washington High in Tuskegee, Ala., and you had a 3.9 grade-point average. Were you the class genius in your high school?
No. Some of them were smarter than me. School was just easy. I guess my teachers just made it a lot of fun. Math was my favorite subject. I hated science.
Who is the toughest wide receiver you've had to cover?
Bobby Shaw [who, as a wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills, caught four passes for 87 yards and a touchdown against Walker in 2003]. My rookie year, I had never met anybody else like him. He rolled my ankles.
Your bio says you enjoy cooking. What is the toughest dish you've made?
I think the toughest stuff comes when I bake. When I'm making stuff like cheesecake, you've got to be patient, you have to add the right amount, you've got to do it a certain way. When I first started out, getting the rice so that it was not too hard and not too soft, I used to be stuck doing that. But I had a friend who's Spanish and she taught me the trick to making rice. Now my rice is bangin'. Everybody loves it.
What is your best dish?
It's the fried honey chicken that I make. It's right on point. I can't tell you my recipe, though. Everybody loves it. But you can't be a healthy eater and eat that. It's probably full of calories and sugar and everything. But it tastes good. I can't lie.
If you could go on a dream date with any woman in the world, whom would it be with and where would you take her?
Lauren London. She played in the movie ATL with T.I. It would be a multi-city trip. We would hit Florida and hit the jet skis down in Florida. Then we would hit Vegas. Have us some more fun, do a little bit of gambling. And where would we finish off at? We would finish off at Lakeland, which is right above Atlanta, in some nice little log cabins, chilling out.
You're stuck on a deserted island with a book, a CD and a DVD. What are they?
The book would be How to Build a Boat. It doesn't matter who the author is. I'm going to have to have some music that's going to get me through it. I'll take a little Anthony Hamilton and his Comin' From Where I'm From album. A DVD? Sister Act 2. I love that movie. That's my favorite movie of all time.
