Towson rallies over Delaware

Troy Franklin banked in a shot with 2.1 seconds left to play to give Towson a 62-61 victory over Delaware last night.

The visiting Tigers (7-8, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association), who trailed by as many as nine points, outscored the Blue Hens 12-5 over the last 5:12.

Junior Hairston, who didn't start and was questionable to play because of illness, scored a team-high 17 points for the Tigers.

Delaware (7-8, 1-2) had won five of its past six games.

The win ended a 12-game CAA road losing streak for the Tigers.

NAVY 66, ELON 62:: Adam Teague scored four of his 11 points during an 8-0 run in the game's final 1:33 to help the visiting Midshipmen (11-4) to a comeback win against the Phoenix (4-6).

NIAGARA 82, LOYOLA 70:: Rob Garrison scored 18 points and five other players reached double figures to lead the Purple Eagles (12-3, 3-0 MAAC) past the visiting Greyhounds (5-10, 1-3).

ROBERT MORRIS 77, MOUNT ST. MARY'S 70:: Rob Robinson scored 17 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had three blocked shots to lead the Colonials (8-7, 3-1 Northeast) over the Mount (5-9, 0-3).

WEST VIRGINIA STATE 73, BOWIE STATE 69:: Senior Ted Scott banked in a short jumper and added two free throws in the final 13 seconds to lift West Virginia State (6-3) over the Bulldogs (6-6).


Dickinson 68, Stevenson 52:: The Red Devils (4-3) got 19 points and four assists from Brooke Muller and took advantage of 24 points off turnovers to hand the Mustangs (1-9) their seventh straight loss and sixth consecutive at home.

WASHINGTON COLLEGE 86, HOOD 52: : The Shorewomen extended their program-best start to 6-1 with their highest scoring output in nearly seven years, defeating the visiting Blazers (2-8) in nonconference action at Cain Athletic Center.

MISERICORDIA 76, ST. MARY'S 54:: The Cougars (3-4) notched their second victory in a row as they defeated the Seahawks (2-7) behind 18 points from junior guard Vanessa Wright.
