Baltimore recorded its eighth homicide in the first five days of 2009 yesterday evening when a man, whose name was not released, was shot in the 3600 block of Reisterstown. He was pronounced dead at Sinai Hospital.

Lt. Juan Rodriguez of the Northwestern District said the man was shot multiple times shortly before 5 p.m. No arrest has been made.

On Sunday night, two teenagers were shot at an apartment complex in Northeast Baltimore. Both died that night at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

On a street corner in Northeast Baltimore a few hours later, a 20-year-old man, who was on his way to catch a bus to visit his girlfriend, was shot to death.

The double shooting occurred shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday at the Lochwood Apartments in the 5600 block of Loch Raven Blvd., in Northeast Baltimore's Loch Raven neighborhood. The male victim was identified as Trevane Ricks, 16, of the 5600 block of Purdue Ave., which is about four blocks away. The girl was identified as Mayresa Craft, 15, whose address was not available.

"We really need help from the community in the murder of two kids," said Homicide Detective Sgt. Darryl Massey.

Lougene Williams III, 20, was shot about 10 p.m. Sunday in the 4000 block of Chesmont Ave. in Northeast Baltimore's Walterson neighborhood. He lived with his mother about 100 feet from where he was shot.

At her home yesterday, Lynette Sewell, 45, said she had no idea why someone would want to kill her son. She said she had given him a little money for bus fare because he was going to visit his girlfriend in Northwest Baltimore.

Andre Thorpe, 17, who was shot Friday afternoon while walking near his home in the 800 block of N. Kenwood Ave. in East Baltimore, died Sunday. Police said a man emerged from a vehicle, shot Thorpe and fled. A source not authorized to speak about the case said Thorpe is believed to have shot two people hours earlier on East Biddle Street. Both are expected to survive.
