Victim of fatal Pimlico shooting is identified
Police have identified a Dec. 16 shooting victim in the Pimlico neighborhood as 24-year-old Gary Mann. Mann, of the 1500 block of Waverly Way, was found shortly before 7:30 a.m. in the 5100 block of Palmer Ave., about one block south of Pimlico Race Course. Mann was pronounced dead at Sinai Hospital shortly after paramedics took him there, police said. Court records show Mann was set to go to trial Jan. 9 in Baltimore City Circuit Court on three counts of drug possession.
Tractor-trailer overturns, closing Ordnance Road
A section of an Anne Arundel County road in Glen Burnie was closed for three hours yesterday after a tractor-trailer overturned, causing the driver minor injuries, said Battalion Chief Matthew Tobia of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Traffic was barred from about 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on East Ordnance Road between Arundel Corporation Road and Bay Meadows Drive. The accident, in which a tanker truck carrying 25,000 pounds of a solid material used to make soap overturned on East Ordnance Road near Route 10 at the end of an off ramp, was reported about 2:23 p.m, Tobia said.
Vehicle rams 2 police cars; woman, 57, is charged
A woman who was being pursued by Anne Arundel County police Monday rammed her car into two police cruisers before she was apprehended, authorities said. County officers received a report of check fraud in progress at the Check Stop, in the 3000 block of Mountain Road in Pasadena, about 12:45 p.m. As officers arrived, they spotted the woman fleeing in a car and followed her. She drove down a dead-end street, turned her car around, then struck an officer's parked cruiser. Moments later she rammed a second cruiser, officers said. The suspect, identified as Joan E. Krempa, 57, of the 8500 block of Bay Road, was apprehended outside an apartment complex. She was charged with first- and second-degree assault, forgery, malicious destruction of property, and using a false document, electronic court records show. She is being held on $500,000 bail, the records show.
