Twenty-four boys and girls unknowingly built their own holiday presents last week at a bike-building competition at Wiley H. Bates Heritage Park in Annapolis. Price Modern LLC sent 130 employees Dec. 12 to help children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County put the bikes together.
Capital Bikes in Annapolis sold the bike equipment at cost to Price Modern and had six employees oversee the teams building the bikes. Capital Bikes employees inspected the bikes once they were built.
Price Modern, an office furniture company, donated the bikes, helmets and water bottles to the children at the end of the competition. Recipients include youths from each of the six clubs within the county.
