Window-decorating competition is on

The Ellicott City Restoration Foundation Inc. is sponsoring a holiday window decorating contest for retail businesses in the Ellicott City historic district.

A people's choice award will be chosen by ballot. Ballots for the people's choice award are available at the Howard County Tourism Visitor Information Center, 8267 Main St.

Visitors will be able to vote by returning their ballots to the center on or before Dec. 31 at 3 p.m. The popular ballot winner will be announced Jan. 5, and a ribbon will be awarded.

This year's people's choice ballot will also serve as an entry form in a contest to win a $75 gift certificate to the retail shop or restaurant of the winner's choice in the historic district.

Christmas concert

The Alleluias, an interfaith Christan choral group based in Howard County, will present a Sacred Christmas Concert at 4 p.m. today at Melville Chapel United Methodist Church, 5660 Furnace Ave., Elkridge. The concert is free, but an offering will be taken.
