Boy, 11, missing; failed to return from school
An 11-year-old boy was reported missing after he did not return home after leaving Golden Ring Middle School on Friday, Baltimore County police said. Mezcal Donta Davis of the 6000 block of Nahant Road in Rosedale is black with a medium complexion, brown eyes and shoulder-length brown hair. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt and tan pants. He stands 4 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 100 pounds. Anyone with information about the boy is asked to call police at 410-887-5000.
Pearl Harbor anniversary to feature the Taney
A remembrance ceremony for the 67th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor is planned for 11:30 a.m. today aboard the Coast Guard cutter Taney. The 327-foot ship, launched in 1936, is the last warship to survive the Japanese attack that is still afloat; it is docked at Pier 5 in the Inner Harbor. The ceremony is free and open to the public, and it is expected to include several Pearl Harbor survivors.
Hampden street closings for Christmas parade
Baltimore transportation officials are planning a number of street closures and parking restrictions for this afternoon's Christmas parade in Hampden. The parade - set to begin at 2 p.m. - will start at Falls Road and Cold Spring Lane, and travel along Falls Road to east on 36th Street, north on Chestnut Avenue, and disband at 37th Street. From 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., the Falls Road exit (Exit 8) from the northbound Jones Falls Expressway will be closed. From 1:30 p.m. until 5 p.m., Falls Road will be closed from Hillside Road to 36th Street, and 36th Street will be closed from Falls Road to Chestnut Avenue. In addition, no parking will be allowed from noon to 5 p.m. on Falls Road from Hillside to 36th; on 36th from Falls to Chestnut; on Chestnut from 36th to 37th; and on Hillside from Falls to Ivy Lane.
Heavy traffic expected for Ravens, Rockettes
Heavy traffic is expected in downtown Baltimore tonight because of the Baltimore Ravens football game against the Washington Redskins and the Rockettes Radio City Christmas Spectacular at 1st Mariner Arena. The game is set to begin at 8:15 p.m. at M&T; Bank Stadium, and the show is set to begin at 7 p.m. at the arena. City transportation officials warn motorists to expect heavy traffic and delays. Parking control agents will enforce all posted parking restrictions.
