The Giants had two first-quarter possessions, and each resulted in a scoring drive. Giving up an NFL-low 65.4 rushing yards a game, the Ravens let Giants running back Brandon Jacobs gain 70 yards and two touchdowns on just eight carries in the first quarter alone. The Ravens' best chance to put points on the board was Matt Stover's field-goal attempt with 4:39 left that was blocked by defensive tackle Fred Robbins.

Giants 20 Ravens 3

The Giants' domination continued in the second quarter but didn't result in as many points. New York took a 20-0 lead when Eli Manning found backup tight end Darcy Johnson on a 1-yard TD pass with 7:14 left. The touchdown capped a 12-play, 90-yard drive that consumed 6:40. The Ravens managed only Stover's field goal with 4:08 left in the quarter.

Giants 27 Ravens 10

It looked as if the Ravens were back in the game after quarterback Joe Flacco hit Le'Ron McClain with a 10-yard TD pass with 4:26 left in the quarter. It closed the gap to 20-10 and changed the game's momentum. But with 14 seconds left in the quarter, Giants cornerback Aaron Ross returned an interception that bounced off the Ravens' Derrick Mason to put the Giants back up by 17.

Giants 30 Ravens 10

After Jacobs ran for 70 yards in the first quarter, the Ravens tightened their run defense until Ahmad Bradshaw took off on a 77-yard carry with 14:31 left in the game. Ravens cornerback Fabian Washington ran Bradshaw down and the Ravens' defense held, but the Giants were able to put the last points on the scoreboard on Lawrence Tynes' field goal.
