With viewers rejecting most of the new network shows and stars this fall, NBC is going with the old tonight. Two of the network's biggest former stars return tonight, and they'll probably mean big ratings.

PAGING DR. GREENE He lost his first wife to the law - and a lover in Milwaukee. He lost his dad to cancer. And after eight years on the show (1994 to 2002), Dr. Mark Greene (Anthony Edwards) left the world of ER altogether.

But final seasons for long-running dramas and careers that don't exactly take off for stars who leave those dramas make for strange bedfellows. And so, Dr. Greene returns tonight to ER. (10 p.m., WBAL-Channel 11)

YOU GOT A FRIEND Meanwhile, on the heels of Oprah Winfrey's guest appearance last week on Tina Fey's 30 Rock, tonight comes Jennifer Aniston playing an old friend who arrives for a visit and winds up stalking Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin). While NBC has not made the episode available for screening, all of Aniston's key scenes appear to be online at And why not? Even in watching the disjointed scenes, one instantly remembers how engaging she was in Friends. (9:31 p.m., WBAL-Channel 11)

LATE SHOW GUESTS Actor Bruce Willis visits The Late Show with David Letterman. TV journalist Anderson Cooper appears on The Late Show with Jay Leno.
