Victim identified Police released yesterday the name of the man fatally shot Monday night while he and two other men walked down a footpath near a school in West Baltimore. Police said Carlton Tremain Bethea, 29, of the 2200 block of E. Chase St. and two friends were walking near Samuel Coleridge-Taylor Elementary School in the 500 block of W. Preston St. about 9:30 p.m. when all three were shot by an unknown assailant. They were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where Bethea died of a bullet wound to the head. The other men, whose names were not released, survived. Metro Crime Stoppers at 410-0276-8888 is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and an indictment.
Shooting An unidentified man was in serious condition at an area hospital after he was found shot in the stomach about 2:15 p.m. Monday in the 3300 block of Wylie Ave. Police said the man was unable to describe his assailant or tell police the location of the shooting.
Theft/assault Police were seeking two men who stole a tool box at a Home Depot in the 6300 block of Eastern Ave. about 9:15 a.m. Monday.

Arson/arrest A boy, 11, was arrested Sunday night and charged with setting a fire in an apartment in the first block of Oak Grove Drive in Middle River that injured one tenant, who was treated at Franklin Square Hospital for breathing difficulties. The boy, a resident of the apartment complex, was arrested after police received information that he was seen running from the burning apartment. The boy was charged as a juvenile and released to the custody of his parents.

Burglary A laptop computer, an accessory and video games were stolen Monday from a house in the first block of Amelia Woods Court by someone who entered through a rear kitchen window.
Burglary A heat pump valued at $6,000 was stolen from the outside of a house in the first block of Babikow Road between Oct. 14 and Monday.

Theft/arrests A man and a woman were arrested Monday afternoon when they attempted to leave the Walgreen's drug store in the 9600 block of Harford Road without paying for medications valued at more than $300. Charged with theft were Christopher Kowalevicz, 25, of the 6700 block of Fordcrest Road and Sandra Brune, 25, of the 2100 block of Taylor Ave.
