Britney Spears case dismissed after jury deadlock leads to mistrial
The criminal driving-without-a-license case against Britney Spears in Los Angeles has been dismissed.
A mistrial was declared yesterday morning when jurors said they couldn't come up with a unanimous decision after two full days of deliberations. Jurors were deadlocked 10-2 in favor of acquitting the pop singer of any wrongdoing.
A couple of hours later, prosecutors said they would not pursue the criminal case further, and the case was dismissed.
Spears, 26, never appeared during the trial.
An 'Odd Couple' homage?
Gillian Anderson, star of The X-Files TV series and movies, has given birth to a boy named Felix.
Anderson's manager, Connie Freiberg, said Felix was born Oct. 15 in London. He is the second child for Anderson, 40, and her boyfriend, British businessman Mark Griffiths. Their son Oscar will be 2 next month.
Freiberg said Anderson didn't name the boys after characters from the classic comedy The Odd Couple.
"She's never even seen the show. She had no idea," Freiberg said yesterday.
