Baseball's big show

The Baltimore Sun

The World Series starts tonight on Fox with Game One between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays. The World Series is the World Series no matter who is playing, but since this is my column, I can say as a loyal citizen of Red Sox Nation that, even though I will be watching, my heart won't be in it.

Memo to Z: The Nielsen meters that measure ratings don't care where your heart is - only the channel in use. (8 p.m., Fox)

ALL TYLER, ALL NIGHT: Speaking of baseball and the channels that carry games, here is an interesting bit of programming from TBS tonight:

You know TBS: It's the cable channel that had "technical problems" Saturday, preventing loyal citizens of Red Sox Nation from seeing the first 20 minutes of the game between the Sox and Tampa Bay.

OK, now that it's out of my system, here's tonight's lineup on TBS: six consecutive episodes of Tyler Perry's House of Payne. I guess that's one way to use your hit: Squeeze it until there is nothing left. (8 p.m., TBS)

LATE-NIGHT GUESTS: Actor Russell Crowe visits, and the Pretenders perform on the Late Show with David Letterman. Actress Kate Hudson and actor Michael C. Hall appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
