Young professionals club announces Oct. schedule

The Young Anne Arundel Professionals, a social club primarily for single professionals to make new friends and share camaraderie, has announced its programs for October.

Activities include networking events at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday at Red Hot & Blue, 200 Old Mill Bottom Road, Annapolis; 8:15 a.m., Saturday at Garry's Grill, 7704 Quarterfield Road, Glen Burnie; 6:30 p.m., Oct. 28 at Chevys Fresh Mex, Arundel Mills Mall, to walk the Mall; 6:30 p.m., Oct. 30 at China Buffett, 554-A Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.

Marley Station, Kidgits host Fallfest event

Marley Station, in conjunction with the children's club, The Kidgits, will host a Fallfest noon to 4 p.m., Saturday on the B lot of the shopping center.

The Kidgits Fallfest will feature activities including crafts, games, a moon bounce, face painting, Kidgits prize-wheel and food.

The Fallfest is free to members of the Kidgits Club. Nonmembers can preregister as a club member by visiting Simon Guest Services or register on Saturday at the Fallfest entrance.

Memberships are valid for one year and cost $5 per child.

Prosperity Mortgage hires Cremmins in Annapolis

Prosperity Mortgage Company has hired Ed Cremmins as a loan officer at its Annapolis office. Cremmins previously worked at Sun Trust Mortgage.

Chesapeake tech council holds funding seminar

Chesapeake Regional Tech Council will hold a Tech Focus Seminar, Funding Tech Companies in Challenging Times, 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at M&T; Bank Conference Room, 170 Jennifer Road, Suite 300, Annapolis.

Moderator Bill Graf and panelists Rick Kohr, John Davis and Greg Weiner will discuss ways to find funding for technology company or ideas.

The cost is $25 for members in advance, $35 for members at the door and $45 for nonmembers.

Cork oak maker Amorim awarded Green Star

Amorim, a company that specializes in cork oak production and its Wicanders brand of natural cork oak flooring, received the inaugural Interior Design magazine's NeoCon Green Star Award.

Wicanders Cork Oak Flooring received the award at the 2008 NeoCon World's Trade Fair held in Chicago.

Restaurant group gives out Neighbor Awards

The National Restaurant Association announced the winners of the 10th Annual Restaurant Neighbor Award for state associations across the United States.

The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille in Edgewater, Glory Days Grill and Sodexo, both in Gaithersburg, and Bill Bateman's Bistro in Havre de Grace were chosen as state winners by the Restaurant Association of Maryland to honor the companies' community involvement.

The Restaurant Association of Maryland is a trade association operated for the purpose of promoting, protecting and improving the food service industry in Maryland.

Golds Gym hosts fitness night for football fans

Golds Gym, 6324 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, will be host for a night of Fitness Fun for Monday Night Football fans on Oct. 27 at 9:30 a.m., 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Guests will learn about fitness and nutrition, and can watch or participate in group exercise classes.

The event is free and open to members and nonmembers. Registration is strongly encouraged.
