Owners seminars to focus on government contracts

The Howard County Economic Development Authority's Center for Business and Technology Development is partnering with TargetGov to present a series of seminars for small business owners, "Government Contracting Institute," to be held at the center, 9250 Bendix Road North, Columbia.

"Introduction to Government Contracting," a seminar for new and existing businesses that want to sell products or services to federal, state, county and other agencies, will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

Participants can learn contracting law, rules and key players; types of contracts; and how the Federal Acquisition Regulations control how contracts are written, advertised, competed for and awarded.

"Intermediate Government Contracting" will be offered from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

"Proposal Writing to Win Contracts" is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 30; "Contract and Project Management" from 8:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 6; and "Accounting for Government Contractors," from 8:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 13.

The series concludes with "Security Clearances" from 8:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 20.

The cost is $250 for the first workshop registration and $200 for subsequent workshops.
