Support group for stroke survivors

The Glenwood Senior Center, 2400 Route 97, Cooksville, will sponsor "Stroke Survivors' Connection," a free support group for stroke survivors who want to live life fully, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The group will watch the DVD STARS - Steps Against Recurrent Stroke.

A Stroke Survivors' "Reading for Life" group will meet at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 5 and on the first Wednesday of each month. The group will discuss The Other Boleyn Girl. Discussion will be facilitated by speech pathologist Jennifer Triandafilou.

The cost is $40. Registration is requested.

Moms Connect

Moms Connect at Friendship Baptist Church in Sykesville will sponsor a Martin's Grocery Store field trip for mothers and children, to see how things work at the grocery store, at 10 a.m. Oct. 22.

A Fall Dress Up Party at Cooper Park in Sykesville is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 29. Bring a sack lunch; everyone will eat about 11:30 a.m.

Bingo, books, art : The Glenwood Senior Center, 2400 Route 97, Cooksville, will sponsor a Halloween and Harvest Bingo at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Take a Halloween or fall treat to be used as a bingo prize. Free admission. Registration is required.

* An AARP "Divided We Fail" presentation is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday. The program is an effort to encourage voters to consider voting for officials who will ensure that health care and long-term financial security are top domestic issues. Ted Myerson of the Howard County Commission on Aging will speak. Reservations are required. Admission is free.
