Severn woman robbed by pair at gunpoint

A young boy and girl walked into a Severn woman's home with a shotgun and robbed her, Anne Arundel police said.

About 5:40 p.m. Monday, officers in the Still Meadows area were approached by a woman who said a boy about 17 and a girl about 15 walked into her house in the 8200 block of Tomlinson Court through an open door. One of the teens had a shotgun, and they ordered the 27-year-old to the ground before stealing an undisclosed amount of money and fleeing on foot, police said.

The woman was not injured, police said.

Teen charged with attempted murder

Anne Arundel County police have arrested and charged a man with attempted murder in a shooting in Severn.

About 12:10 a.m. Friday, police were called to the 8200 block of Marlton Court, where a wounded man said someone in an orange and blue car shot him in the hand and buttocks, then fled. The man was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

On Monday, detectives went to a suspect's home in Prince George's County, where they found the man's car had been painted with primer, covering orange and blue paint, police said. As officers were looking at the vehicle, the suspect walked to the car and was taken into custody without incident.

Brian C. Smith Jr., 19, of the 7700 block of Riverdale Road in New Carrollton is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and related charges, police said. He was being held without bail at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center today.

Motel 6 employee victim of attempted robbery

An employee at a Laurel Motel 6 reported an attempted armed robbery, Anne Arundel police said.

At 9 p.m. Saturday, police said they responded to a call from the motel in the 3500 block of Old Annapolis Road. The employee said he was approached by a man who ordered him to open the ice machine room. When the employee was unable to open the door to the room, the suspect drew a gun. When a motel patron came into the area, the suspect fled. Police were unable to find the suspect. The motel employee was not injured, and the incident is under investigation.
