The CW has started fast this fall, and tonight it returns two more series, Smallville and Supernatural, before the network season officially gets under way.

In Smallville, the Justice League goes looking for Clark (Tom Welling) in the Arctic. Meanwhile, on Supernatural, Dean (Jensen Ackles) is freed from Hell.

Smallville airs at 8 p.m., followed by Supernatural at 9 p.m. on CW. ** for both.

THAT'S A CAKE: Tonight, Baltimore-based Ace of Cakes features a confectionary version of the Lincoln Memorial. Who would want to miss this? (10 p.m., Food Channel) ***

THAT'S A POP CULTURE PHENOM: Tyler Perry - whose remarkable life story takes him from a childhood of poverty and abuse in New Orleans to a perch atop the world of show business as a writer, actor, producer and director of TV shows, features and plays - is featured on the Biography Channel tonight. Perry's most recent film, The Family That Preys, is the first to feature an interracial cast. (10 p.m., Biography). ** 1/2
