Paul Chamberlain Sr., insurance agent, veteran

Paul E. Chamberlain Sr., a retired insurance agent and longtime Bel Air resident, died of cancer Aug. 30 at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium. He was 78.

Mr. Chamberlain was born and raised in Dedham, Mass., and served in the Navy for four years.

He earned a bachelor's degree in business from Boston College in 1957, and four years later went to work as a general insurance agent for the Aetna Insurance Co.

Mr. Chamberlain lived in Vienna, Va., Hackensack, N.J., and Manchester, Conn., before moving to Baltimore in 1971. He retired from Aetna in 1986.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending summers in Marshfield and White Island, Mass.

His wife of 43 years, the former Maureen Sullivan, died in 2001.

Mr. Chamberlain, who had lived in Bel Air since 1985, was a communicant of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church, 141 N. Hickory Ave., Bel Air, where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Surviving are four sons, Paul E. Chamberlain Jr. of Taneytown, Mark Chamberlain of Bel Air, Raymond J. Chamberlain of Baltimore and G. Courtney Chamberlain of Frederick; three daughters, Lynne M. Zink of Upper Falls, Janice M. Bowman and Susan C. Hunt, both of Fawn Grove, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
