Once upon a time, this series would be a playoff preview - 1971, 1973, 1974. Vida Blue vs. Jim Palmer. Catfish Hunter vs. Mike Cuellar. Ken Holtzman vs. Dave McNally. The funny uniforms and mustaches didn't mean those Oakland guys couldn't play ball. And now we have two teams sunk in double-digit deficits below .500. Maybe a mustache or two would help?
