Two 18-year-old women were arrested in Anne Arundel County this week in connection with an attempted robbery and shooting that occurred July 25 in Pasadena, police said yesterday.

The pair, who police said in charging documents are romantically involved, were arrested after the mother of one of them found a loaded handgun in her room.

A Pasadena man told police that he was walking along Mountain Road when he was shot in the arm and shoulder by a man who said, "Give me your money, I have six more bullets." The attacker then fled.

On July 27, the mother of Veronica Marie Sampson told police that she had found a loaded .32-caliber revolver in her daughter's bedroom. Sampson was arrested for underage possession of a regulated firearm, police said.

While being interviewed at the Eastern District police station, Sampson said the gun had been brought to the house by Mashawnda Angelia Slater. Slater was later interviewed by police and admitted that the gun was hers and had been used to shoot a man on Mountain Road, police said.

The victim picked Slater out of a photo lineup. In charging documents, police pointed out that while the victim said he had been attacked by a man, "it should be noted that the defendant [Slater] has masculine characteristics."

Slater was being held on $1.2 million bond after being charged with first-degree assault, attempted armed robbery, use of a handgun in a crime of violence and reckless endangerment.
