Man dies, woman hurt in collision

An Edgemere man was killed and a Dundalk woman was injured yesterday morning when their northbound minivan hit the back of a parked tractor-trailer on North Point Boulevard near Sparrows Point, Baltimore County police said.

Ronald Bundy, 63, of the 7300 block of N. Dakota Ave., a passenger in the 1998 Chevrolet Venture, was killed, police said. The driver, Patricia Plumley, 58, of the first block of Vista Mobile Drive, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said. She was in fair condition last night.

The tractor-trailer was parked on the shoulder of the road when the accident occurred about 8:10 a.m. in the 4600 block of North Point Blvd. near Morse Lane, police said. The driver of the tractor-trailer, who is from Cleveland, was out of the rig at the time, police said.

Police seeking pair who robbed guard

Baltimore County police said they were looking for a man and woman who robbed a security guard who was carrying money from a church in Rodgers Forge yesterday afternoon.

About 1:50 p.m., a Dunbar Armored Inc. employee was leaving the St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church office building off York Road with a bag of money when a man and woman, each armed with a gun, rounded a corner of the building and held him up, police said.

The robbers, who were both wearing dark clothing, grabbed the bag from him and ran south on York Road, police said. The amount taken was not disclosed, police said.

Owings Mills

Irvine center gets federal funds

The Irvine Nature Center has been awarded $328,300 in federal funding for an urban education program that provides free watershed education and training to students and teachers in the Baltimore City public school system.

The funding for Irvine's Schoolyard Discovery was announced by Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin and Rep. John Sarbanes at the new facility that the center is constructing on Garrison Forest Road in Owings Mills. The facility is scheduled to open next month.

Car club to hold show Sunday

Prestigious Innovations Car Club will sponsor a Christmas in July Car Show from 5 p.m to 9 p.m. Sunday at Maserati of Baltimore, 1628 York Road, Timonium.
