Hartgen heads restaurant association

Paul Hartgen has joined the Restaurant Association of Maryland as president and chief executive officer.

He held the same posts with the Nevada Restaurant Association and the New Hampshire Lodging and Restaurant Association, and he held a variety of managerial positions with Ashworth by the Sea Hotel in Hampton, N.H.

He is past president of the International Society of Restaurant Association Executives and an industry representative to the board of the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association.

Howard Bank appoints Paterni

Linda Paterni is the new manager of Howard Bank's Hickory Ridge office. The locally owned bank's first branch is in Hickory Ridge Village Center.

Before joining Howard Bank this year, Paterni worked for Citizens National and Mercantile as a cash management officer.

A 2006 graduate of Leadership Howard County, Paterni has lived in Ellicott City for 19 years.

Library board elects Clancy

Patrick J. Clancy, a managing partner at the Washington law firm Krooth & Altman LLP, was elected chairman of the Howard County Library Board of Trustees at its June 18 meeting.

A library board trustee since 2001, Clancy also is a commissioner on the Howard County Housing Commission. He has lived in Howard County since 1973.

Leonora K. Hoenes, a real estate investor, was elected vice chairwoman. Arvell Greenwood Jr., a senior account representative with 3M Healthcare, was elected treasurer.
