Police say six in burglary ring
Anne Arundel County police have arrested six people accused of participating in a burglary ring in Pasadena, and have returned more than $20,000 in stolen property.
The monthlong string of arrests began on May 2, with Joseph Leo Baumgarten III, 35, of the 1000 block of Cayer Drive in Glen Burnie. He and Laura Michelle Bruce, 24, of the 100 block of Lake Shore Drive in Pasadena, were accused of kicking in the front door of a home on the 8300 block of Beachwood Park Road on March 26 and stealing cash, jewelry and other items. Bruce was arrested several weeks after Baumgarten, and both were charged with first- and third-degree burglary, theft over $500 and destruction over $500.
Police say Baumgarten is connected to another burglary on May 2 in the 700 block of Andover Road. Charges are pending.
Those arrests, police say, brought forth information that two associates of Baumgarten were involved in burglaries in the 100 block of Chelsea Grove Court on April 21, and in the 1100 block of Virginia Ave. on April 11. James Henry Feger Jr., 18, of the 7600 block of Oak Lane in Pasadena, and Patrick Richard Frissel Jr., 23, of the 200 block of W. Arden Road in Baltimore, were arrested and charged in those cases on June 6 and 13, respectively.
After they were interviewed, police say Frissel and two other people were linked to the burglary of a home on the 1300 block of Water Oak Drive: Matthew William Sutton, 30, of the 7800 block of Kings Arm Court in Pasadena, and Hollie Joyce Bauer, 28, of the 5100 block of Mountain Road in Pasadena. All three were charged in that crime.
Police, who announced the arrests yesterday, are investigating several other burglaries in the community, and charges against these same suspects are pending. They ask anyone having with information to contact Detective Mike Mulford or Sgt. Jeff Morgan at 410-222-6145.
Resident spots man driving mower away
An Annapolis resident stopped a would-be thief who was trying to drive his lawn mower off his property, city police said.
The victim said he heard the lawn mower running outside his home on the 1200 block of Van Buren St. about 5:40 a.m. Thursday and looked outside to see a man pushing it toward the gate in their back yard. One resident ran out and yelled at the man, who had reached Elliott Road and had just abandoned the mower. A silver sedan was seen leaving the area.
Police arrest suspect in cab shooting
An Annapolis man has been charged with shooting at a fleeing taxicab and threatening his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint on the same city street, police said.
Orlando Antoine Foote, 20, of Bens Drive was arrested Thursday. He was charged with first-degree assault and other offenses after police say he approached a 58-year-old cabdriver on the 700 block of Newtowne Drive on May 12 and tapped on his window with a handgun. The victim drove away, hearing gunshots as he left. At least two bullet holes were found in the cab.
Foote is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
