Power Camp starts June 23

The Norbel School in Elkridge will offer a Power Camp for children with learning challenges from June 23 through Aug. 1. The camp, which is to feature the school's interpersonal social skills development program, is open to children ages 6-12. Art, sports and music activities are also planned.

Tutoring and before- and after-camp care are available.

Bag sale planned for July and August

The Trinity Church Gift & Thrift Shoppe, 6010 Waterloo Road, at Pfeiffer's Corner, behind St. John's Lutheran Church in Elkridge, will hold a bag sale in July and August.

Bags can be filled with items for $4 a bag.

Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

Teen Chess Club offered at library

The Miller branch library, 9421 Frederick Road, Ellicott City, will hold a session of its Teen Chess Club for ages 9-17 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 24.

Pins and Needles, a chance to meet people, work on stitching, knitting or crocheting projects and trade ideas and tips, will be offered from 10 .am. to noon June 26. Registration is not needed. Information: 410-313-1950.

Cheerleading, Football : The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks is accepting registration for Elkridge Hurricanes Flag and Tackle football and cheerleading. Practice begins in August at Elkridge Landing Middle School. The season runs through mid-November. Flag football for ages 5-6 costs $85; tackle football for ages 7-14 costs $160.
