Performer of the Year Matt Cross Bel Air

The senior had already shown his athletic talents on the wrestling mats - he won his first state title there this past winter - before a standout spring season. Cross won the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference pole vault, setting a conference record at 13 feet.

He later came up with a strong performance at the state meet, finishing third at 12-6 in a tough field in Class 3A.

Cross helped Bel Air take third in the UCBAC title meet.

Coaches of the Year Joe Rose and Tim Markland Bel Air

This wasn't an easy season for Rose, Markland and the Bobcats. They lost a lot of talent to graduation last year and then had some more losses on the distance side. In addition, Bel Air didn't have a full track to work with because of construction at the school, so the team had no home meets, and practices were an experience.

Then, they were loaded with underclassmen who had to learn on the job - but everything came together as Bel Air took third in the UCBAC with 73 points, just 10 out of second place.
