Twins update

Minnesota is a half game behind the Chicago White Sox in the American League Central after beating the New York Yankees, 6-5, last night. The Twins were ranked third in the AL in team batting average at .267, but their .980 fielding percentage was next-to-last. The roster has undergone significant changes since last season, with center fielder Torii Hunter leaving as a free agent and pitcher Matt Garza and shortstop Jason Bartlett going to the Tampa Bay Rays in the Delmon Young trade. The Twins went 7-0 last season against the Orioles, who haven't won a season series against Minnesota since 2002. Catcher Joe Mauer (.319) and first baseman Justin Morneau (.303) rank second at their respective positions in the latest AL All-Star voting. Young ranks second in the AL in outfield assists with seven, one fewer than Nick Markakis. Young is tied for first in triples (four) with Brian Roberts.
