Forum to showcase green initiatives
The Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland will co-host a forum, "Greening the Supply Chain," with the EPA Green Suppliers Network and the Maryland-Asia Environmental Partnership, from 7:15 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the BWI Marriott in Linthicum.
The Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp. is a sponsor of the conference, and U.S. Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin will give opening remarks.

AACC to hold diversity job fair
Anne Arundel Community College and The Employment Guide will sponsor a Diversity Job Fair from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday in the college's Jenkins Gymnasium for new high school and college graduates, the unemployed, underemployed and those wishing to change employers or career fields
The event is expected to attract about 1,000 job seekers. The more than 40 employers attending are seeking to hire workers of all ages and skill levels, from those seeking their first job to retirees, transitional and older workers. Attendees should dress for interviews and bring resume copies.

Chamber plans luncheon
The Black Chamber of Commerce of Anne Arundel County Inc.'s annual Carroll H. Hynson, Sr. Awards luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. June 12 at the Sheraton Hotel and Resorts, 173 Jennifer Road, Annapolis. The luncheon recognizes entrepreneurs who have successful careers and an influence on other business owners, and made contributions to the business community.
Tickets are $45.
Certified mortgage banker recognized
The Mortgage Bankers Association of America has recognized Jeffrey Banyas as a certified mortgage banker.
This certification is the highest professional designation in the real estate finance industry.
Banyas, assistant vice president and head of the lending functions at Arundel Federal Savings Bank, is one of 1,000 real estate professionals upon whom this honor has been bestowed.
Chamber meeting on energy program
The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Synergetic Energy Pools, Inc. to launch a members-only Energy Buying Pools program.
In the chamber's members-only energy buying pool, individual businesses combine their commercial energy purchasing demands, or loads, into a larger load to achieve better terms and reduced rates.
The Chamber will host informational meetings at 9:15 a.m. July 15 and 3 p.m. July 23 to educate members on the specifics of deregulation and to announce the next buying poll enrollment period.
Registration for the information meetings is required.
Business women to hold annual meeting
The Maryland Capital chapter of the American Business Women's Association will hold its annual general meeting and dinner from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. June 11 at the Sheraton Barcelo, 173 Jennifer Road in Annapolis.
Darlene Craven of Creative Career Solutions will discuss "Reading, Writing and Resumes -- How to Write One, Read One and Get a Good One," and Joyce Becker of Becker Legal Nursing Consulting will provide insight on "Preparing for Your Hospital Visit."
The Board of Directors Officer Inductions and Women of the Year Nominations will be accepted, and one grant and one scholarship will be awarded.

Buildings get LEED certification
Baltimore Business Journal has ranked three Anne Arundel County buildings designed by GVA Architecture and Interior Design in the top 20 largest Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-Certified buildings in Maryland.
LEED Certification was developed by the US Green Building Council as a way of rating the energy efficiency of environmentally friendly buildings.
The buildings, located in the National Business Park near Fort Meade, are 302, 304 and 306 Sentinel Drive.
