The lowdown -- The 18th annual Greyhound Reunion Picnic brings owners of adopted greyhounds and the general public together at Oregon Ridge Park to celebrate the svelte canines. The event features greyhound health discussions, grooming stations, various doggie contests -- such as most unusual trick, barest buns and tallest -- a DJ, food and a silent auction. Several vendors also offer dog-related products.

Brewing fun

The lowdown -- On Saturday, the Frederick Keys host the annual Maryland Brewers Springfest at Harry Grove Stadium. Visitors can choose from more than 60 local beers and a variety of food vendors. The Freddie Long Band; the Reagan Years, an '80s tribute band; and 21 the Difference will provide live music.

The lowdown -- Watch as freestylers, producers and bboys battle each other at Speakerboxin' II at Bedrock. Local hip-hop artist Shaka Pitts hosts the event, and judges include 92Q Jams' Squirrel Wyde, Bishop Loko of DVC and Rapid of the Lab Ratz Crew.
