A 19-year-old man remained in critical condition yesterday after he was shot on a street corner in the city's Remington neighborhood in the early-morning hours, city police said.

After receiving reports of gunfire about 3 a.m., police found the victim on the ground at West 28th Street and Miles Avenue with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. Police declined to release the victim's name or the hospital.

The man was the second city teenager felled by gunfire over the Memorial Day weekend. A 16-year-old girl remained in guarded condition after she was struck by a bullet fired from a car while she walked with two friends in the 2200 block of Annapolis Road on Monday evening, police said.

Police said the bullet entered the girl's shoulder and traveled up through her jaw, wounding her so badly that she could not speak with detectives while she was being treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Police said they believe that a person shot at the teenagers from a dark-colored vehicle.
