Fire house gives service award

The Susquehanna Hose Company recently presented the Residences at Bulle Rock with a Community Service Award for its fundraising efforts at the first Bulle Rock Turkey Trot.

The event, which had 200 runners and walkers at Thanksgiving, raised $14,400. The money was given to the fire company and the city of Havre de Grace for new emergency equipment.

Havre de Grace received three automated external defibrillators to place at three city locations. The fire company received two hydraulic rams to assist with pulling and pushing items such as door jambs, window frames and dashboards.

Trilogy expands at Abingdon facility

Trilogy Spice Extracts Inc. and Trilogy Flavors Inc. recently expanded operations at their Abingdon facility in the William Paca Business Park.

For the past two years, Trilogy Spice Extracts has been in a 35,000-square-foot space. Trilogy Flavors has signed a new seven-year lease for 25,900 square feet next to the existing space.

Trilogy Spice Extracts will continue to operate in the current facility, while Trilogy Flavors will occupy the newly-leased space.

Both are family-owned and -managed companies that make a variety of spice extracts for use in foods, and sweet and savory flavors for use in meats, seasonings, confections and beverages.

Fiore Winery won medals in contest

Fiore Winery recently competed against more than 2,000 wines from 15 countries and 35 states/provinces at the 21st annual Tasters Guild International Competition, where nine of its wines earned medals.

The vineyard's Malvasia Bianca Gelata earned a double gold medal. Silver medals went to the Peach Floret 2005, Proprietor's Reserve Chambourcin 2004, Maryland Merlot 2005, Vidal Blanc and Scarlette.

The Blush of Bel Air, L'Ombra and 2007 Pinot Grigio earned silver medals.
