The lowdown -- If you enjoy Magic: the Gathering, Atari or science, then check out Nerdfest 2008. Load of Fun Studios encourages basement-dwellers to get out and get social Saturday for an evening of nerd culture. Attending geeks can look forward to video games, Dungeons & Dragons, science and math experiments, and bands inspired by Star Wars and Harry Potter.

Calling all Lithuanians

The lowdown -- Maryland's Lithuanian community celebrates its 36th annual festival Saturday and Sunday. The Catonsville Armory hosts this celebration of spring with a Lithuanian twist including costumes, music and dance. On sale are an array of Lithuanian crafts like Baltic amber, woodcarvings and ceramics. For food enthusiasts, traditional fare such as desra sausage, pastries and Viryta honey liqueur are available.

The lowdown -- Multiple Grammy nominations and collaborations with Robert Randolph won't keep the likes of the North Mississippi All Stars and Alvin Youngblood Hart from singing the blues. Both accomplished in their own right, these blues rockers have joined forces to appear at the Recher Theatre on Sunday.
