County championships won by Glenelg teams this spring. The lacrosse teams both won, with the girls defeating Centennial, 16-5, and the boys handling Marriotts Ridge, 14-6, on May 6. The softball team defeated Hammond, 3-1, on May 7. Glenelg is the only Class 1A school in the county.


Points totaled by the River Hill girls track and field team in winning the county championship last week. The Hawks, who finished 11th last year, won this year's championship 110-85.5 over Howard. Freshman Anna Demaree won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200, and ran on the winning 3,200-meter relay team to lead the way.
