Hibbs to play at Fla. college

The Baltimore Sun

Tyler Hibbs, who lost his baseball scholarship to Florida State after he was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and intent to distribute Feb. 26, yesterday committed to Tallahassee (Fla.) Community College.

In March, Hibbs, a two-time All-Metro selection and The Sun's All-Metro Player of the Year in 2006, was removed from Arundel High by Anne Arundel County and placed in an alternative-learning situation as a night-school student at Meade High. Because he wasn't enrolled at Arundel, Hibbs couldn't play baseball this spring.

His court date is pending.

Coach Mike McLeod of Tallahassee was in Anne Arundel County yesterday to work out Hibbs and to talk to the 18-year-old and his family about attending the Florida school.

"I met Tyler's mom and dad and feel they have a good family, and hopefully Tyler has learned from all of this, " McLeod said.
