The Elkridge Hurricanes Football and Cheer organization will hold a basket bingo at 7 p.m. May 9 at Veterans Elementary School, 4355 Montgomery Road, Ellicott City. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

Race for Education set for Friday
St. Augustine School, 5990 Old Washington Road, Elkridge, will hold its fourth annual Race for Education from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Children in kindergarten through eighth grade will compete in an outdoor race around a 1/4 -mile course in the school's parking lot. The children will ask family members, friends and neighbors to sponsor each lap they run for a flat fee. Proceeds will help pay for improvements to the school.
The Rev. Gerard Bowen, pastor of St. Augustine Church, and Patricia Schratz, principal of St. Augustine School, will join in the race.
Library to hold audition workshop
The Miller branch library, 9421 Frederick Road, Ellicott City, will hold an audition workshop for teens, ages 11-17, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. May 16.
The workshop, to be led by drama coach and director Mo Dutterer, will help teens prepare to compete in the library's Teen Idol contest. Participants will learn vocal techniques and will have their performances critiqued, if time permits. Bring recorded accompaniment, if available.
