What do you expect the Ravens to do today? Any chance they trade up? Trade down?
There is a good chance that the Ravens will move out of the No. 8 spot. If Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan or Virginia defensive end Chris Long starts to slide, the Ravens would probably be interested in jumping up. If they are both gone by the eighth pick, the Ravens would consider falling back - New Orleans (No. 10), Carolina (No. 13) and Philadelphia (No. 19) are potential trade partners - and take Michigan quarterback Chad Henne.
If the Ravens can't move out of that spot, they likely would consider a cornerback (Troy's Leodis McKelvin or Tennessee State's Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie), Boise State offensive tackle Ryan Clady or Virginia guard Branden Albert, who could project to be a left tackle.
What about the Redskins?
Choosing at No. 21, the Redskins will likely take the best defensive lineman or wide receiver left on their board. They have desperately tried to trade for a veteran wide receiver such as Chad Johnson of the Bengals, Roy Williams of the Lions or Anquan Boldin of the Cardinals, but to no avail.
Are there any local college players who could be selected today?
The most likely player to get a first-day call is defensive tackle Dre Moore of Maryland. Mel Kiper Jr. gave him a second-round grade and projects him going to the Seahawks with the 55th overall pick. Moore has prototypical size (6-4, 308 pounds) for the position.
What position will be most popular on Day One?
Offensive tackle. You could see three players - Jake Long of Michigan, Clady and Albert, who played high school football at Glen Burnie, where he also starred in basketball - go in the top 10. Three others - Jeff Otah of Pittsburgh, Chris Williams of Vanderbilt and Gosder Cherilus of Boston College - could also go in the first round, with Otah and Williams being top 20 picks. After that, you'll see a run on defensive linemen and cornerbacks in the middle and end of the first round.
Who could be doing a lot of waiting on Day One?
Quarterbacks and running backs. After Ryan, the next quarterback chosen could be waiting until the second round. There has been talk of teams trading into the first round late to grab one of the three top quarterbacks after Ryan - Louisville's Brian Brohm, Henne or Delaware's Joe Flacco - but more than likely two of those three will go in the second round. After Darren McFadden of Arkansas, maybe two other running backs - Rashard Mendenhall of Illinois and Felix Jones of Arkansas - go in the first round.
Who are two players you wouldn't want to be today?
Kansas cornerback Aqib Talib and Michigan wide receiver Mario Manningham. Both disclosed recently that they failed multiple drug tests for marijuana in college. Manningham even lied about it to NFL team executives at the scouting combine. There is a chance Talib goes in the first round, but he's not going to be the top 10 pick some thought after the season. Manningham's admission, along with suspect 40-yard dash times, has likely dropped him into the second day of the draft.
Who loses his voice first, Kiper or Todd McShay?
McShay. Kiper is a draft veteran. He knows how to protect his voice. McShay, a relative newcomer to the proceedings, has been doing nearly round-the-clock interviews heading into the draft. It will be tough for him to keep his voice throughout the two-day event.
