Annapolis man accused of molesting daughter

An Annapolis man has been charged with molesting his 15-year-old daughter and watching her take showers, police said yesterday.

The girl, a ninth-grade student, was overheard Tuesday at her school telling a friend about the abuse, police said. That information was passed along to school administrators, who sent police and Department of Social Service workers to talk to the girl.

She told the investigators that her father had molested her several times over the past year or so at their Madison Street home, police said, and that he goes outside and stares through the bathroom window when she showers.

She reported that she had shared all this with her mother. Police said the mother explained that she addressed the issue by having her daughter lock her bedroom door and telling her not to be home alone with her father.

The father, who is not being named to protect the identity of the girl, was arrested at his workplace in Severna Park and charged with child abuse, third-degree sexual assault and being a Peeping Tom, according to police. He is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on $175,000 bail.

Man killed in Forest Park

A Northeast Baltimore man was found shot to death yesterday afternoon in the Forest Park section of Northwest Baltimore. Police had no suspect or a motive in the city's latest slaying.

Northwestern District police responded to a 911 call of a shooting in the 2900 block of Garrison Blvd. near Powhatan Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. They found Tavon Smith, 27, of the 3000 block of Glenmore Ave. lying on the ground, said Agent Donny Moses, the spokesman. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a city Fire Department ambulance crew, Moses said.
