COLLEGE PARK — COLLEGE PARK -- Sean Mosley and Henry Sims have often been on the same basketball court. Yesterday was one of the few times they were teammates in a high school game.
Both made the most of it as their United States All-Star team beat the Capital All-Stars, 123-85, in the Under Armour Capital Classic at the University of Maryland's Comcast Center.
Duke-bound Olek Czyz of Reno, Nev., led all scorers with 23 points and had nine rebounds for the U.S. team. Jason Clark, who will attend Georgetown, led the Capital All-Stars with 16 points.
For St. Frances' Mosley, the game was a chance to get used to his new home. For Mount St. Joseph's Sims, it was a chance to get used to playing at another level.
Mosley, who had 16 points and six assists, will play at Maryland next season, and last night marked the first time he has played at Comcast Center. He said the experience was special.
"I just came out and tried to put on a show," Mosley said. "I want to play at the college level and play in front of big crowds. It was a wonderful experience to finally get on the court here."
He said it was nice to team with Sims after many battles being on opposite sides.
"We played together in the Charm City Classic at Towson, and it's great having that big presence there," Mosley said. "He really helped us out. He's a great player."
For Sims, who scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, the game presented another opportunity to show he belonged. He will play for Georgetown.
"I came out here with the attitude that I had to make myself a star," Sims said. "This was another chance for me to show people who I am. I think I did that tonight."
He also said the experience was humbling.
"As far as being called a star, I'm just a high school [senior] on my way to college right now," he said.
Mosley gave everyone a scare when he landed awkwardly on his right wrist with 8:39 left in the game. He said the wrist is just sprained. He later returned and played in the final minutes.
