Two men arrested in theft of wire
Two Glen Burnie men were arrested on charges of stealing a large amount of copper wire from a Baltimore Gas and Electric facility in Odenton, Anne Arundel County police said.
Security officers at the site in the 700 block of New Waugh Chapel Road reported seeing at least one man stealing wire from a fenced and secured yard just before midnight on Tuesday.
Responding police officers, including a police dog and a helicopter, searched the area. The helicopter crew saw someone hiding under a parked pickup truck in a gated adult community, where he was arrested.
A short time later, a citizen called to report a suspicious person hiding in an outdoor alcove of a condominium in the same community, and that person was arrested.
Ian Keith Gaither Sr., 23, of the 7500 block of Furnace Branch Road and Josh Albert Strong, 23, of the 200 block of Olden Drive were charged with two counts of trespassing, malicious destruction, theft and fourth-degree burglary.
Police recovered 288 feet of copper and aluminum wire and returned it to BGE.
Man charged in assault, theft
A Glen Burnie man was charged with assaulting and robbing another man walking home, Anne Arundel County police said.
The victim, 38, was in the area of Nolpark Court and Nolpark Road about 3 a.m. Wednesday when he said a man approached him, implied he had a gun, attacked him and took his cell phone and money.
Officers responding to the scene saw the suspect walking away and detained him as he threw a cell phone on the ground. No weapon was found.
The victim had bruising and several cuts on his face but refused medical treatment.
The suspect, Demarco Shawn Adams, 23, of the 8000 block of Donna Court in Glen Burnie, was arrested and charged with armed robbery, robbery, first- and second-degree assault and failure to obey a lawful order.
Church volunteer's wallet stolen
Someone stole a wallet from a volunteer at St. Mary's Church, Annapolis police said.
The victim, a 65-year-old Holly Drive resident, said she placed her purse in the sacristy at the church, in the 100 block of Duke of Gloucester St., around 9 a.m. Tuesday, then went outside to do some gardening.
When she went back inside at 11:30 a.m., her wallet was missing.
The sacristy is unsecured, and the public is allowed free access to it.
Police sweep nets six arrests
Annapolis police, who were making a warrant sweep through several troubled neighborhoods on Wednesday, made six arrests.
The team went to the Clay Street area, Annapolis Gardens, Captain's Circle, Harbour House and Parole and arrested:
Gerell Sean Davis, 24, of W. Washington St., on a violation of probation warrant.
Antonio R. Nguyen, 21, of College Creek Terrace, on an assault warrant.
Jasmine Michelle Jones, 17, 431 Captain's Circle, on a warrant charging her as an adult with first-degree assault.
Vincent Butler, 31, of Shoreham Beach Road in Edgewater, on a warrant for failing to appear in court to answer a theft charge.
Clarence Bouie, 49, of Clay St., was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court.
Lawrence Montague, 20, of the 8000 block of Catherine Ave. in Pasadena, for trespassing.
