The start of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season is just seven weeks away. Some forecasters believe this will be an "active" season, continuing a trend that began in 1995 with changes in Atlantic air and ocean conditions. But they've been wrong before. They badly underestimated the record-breaking 2005 season, and overestimated the two that followed. The National Hurricane Center issues storm watches and warnings at www.nhc.noaa.gov/nhctour. shtml.
