Eileen Reid Rodgers

Eileen Reid Rodgers, a homemaker who was active in her church, died of lung cancer April 1 at Sinai Hospital. She was 82 and had lived in Ashburton for many years.

Eileen Reid Moore was born in Wilmington, N.C., and moved to Baltimore as a child. She was a 1943 graduate of Douglass High School.

While working at Aberdeen Proving Ground during World War II, she met Leon H. Rodgers. They were married in 1946.

Mr. Rodgers, who worked for the city Department of Recreation and Parks, died in 1987.

A member of Douglass Memorial Community Church for nearly 60 years, Mrs. Rodgers was active in many of its organizations and was a founder of the Douglass Memorial Federal Credit Union.

She was an avid traveler and enjoyed attending family reunions.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Estep Bros. Funeral Home, 1300 Eutaw Place.

Survivors include a daughter, Sheila H. Dorsey of Ashburton; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
