The Oakland Mills Community Association's election monitoring committee will hold a candidates forum at 8 p.m. Tuesday at The Other Barn, 5851 Robert Oliver Place.
The forum is for candidates running for the Oakland Mills Columbia Council seat and for the village's board of directors.
Running for the Columbia Council seat are Phil Engelke and Alex Hekimian. Seven candidates running for the seven open seats on the village board are Mary Kate Murray, Kriz Krizmanich, Abby Hendrix, Karen Gray, Marcia White, Jim Alvey and Michael McKenna.

School celebrates 35th anniversary
Stevens Forest Elementary School will hold its 35th anniversary celebration from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 9.
Those who attend can expect games, guests, music, a chance to meet new and old friends and reminisce about the past.
Former students, parents, friends of the school and staff are invited to contribute memories by stopping by the school for a brief videotaping session. The tapes will be spliced together to create a short film that will be shown during the event.

Blood drive scheduled
A community blood drive will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 19 at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7246 Cradlerock Way.
Walk-ins are welcome, but priority is given to those with appointments.

Classes, therapies -- The East Columbia 50+ Center is offering appointments for Reflexology -- deep foot massage --between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Mondays. The cost is $40 for a 50-minute treatment. Appointments are also available between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Fridays. Reiki treatments are available by appointment between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the first and third Fridays of each month. The gentle technique is said to restore physical, emotional and spiritual balance and harmony. The cost is $30 for a 55-minute treatment.
Tai Chi for Arthritis is offered from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The emphasis is on breathing and inner stillness to relieve stress and anxiety. The cost is $32 a month; drop-ins are not allowed.
A "Harmonize Exercise Class" is from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. O.H. Laster, a personal fitness trainer, teaches "Stamina, Strength, Stretch and Synergy." The cost is $24 a month; drop-ins are not allowed.
Candidates' night -- The Long Reach Community Association will hold a Candidates' Night at 7 p.m. Thursday April 10 in the Tamar Room at Stonehouse, 8775 Cloudleap Court. Candidates for the Village Board will be available to discuss current concerns in Long Reach. 410-730-8113.
Yard sale -- The Student Government Association of Oakland Mills High will present its ninth annual Good Samaritan Yard Sale and Powder Puff Football Game on Saturday at the school. The event raises money to provide two student leaders at Oakland Mills with $500 each to help pay for college. The award is presented in honor of Kevans Hall and Matthew Wichita, Oakland Mills students who were killed in Florida during spring break in 1998. A community yard sale will be held in the school's front parking lot from 8 a.m. to noon. At 1 p.m., women will play football.
