2006 Wild Horse Pinot Noir

Central Coast, Calif.

Serve with:

Roast poultry, tuna steak

Nobody's going to mistake it for a classic red Burgundy, but this Wild Horse pinot noir shows the best side of what California brings to the cultivation of this classic red-wine grape. The wine is simply a pleasure bomb -- juicy, smooth, seductive and pure fun to drink. The black-cherry and blackberry flavors are plump and rounded; there's an appealing earthiness; and the finish is smooth and long. What's not to like?
