Lorena Ochoa dominated the LPGA Safeway International in Superstition Mountain, Ariz., winning by seven strokes. She shot a 6-under-par 66 yesterday to finish at 22-under 266 and win her second straight title there.
South Korea's Jee Young Lee, who began the day one shot back, shot an even-par 72 to finish at 15-under. Lee was paired with Ochoa, a match of two of the biggest hitters on tour.
Through her interpreter, Lee said she watched the way Ochoa handled the pressure.
"She's a great player," Lee said. "She knows how to keep pace. That's something I really need to learn from her. She always kept steady."
Mine Blomqvist (66) was third at 14-under.
PGA Zurich Classic -- Andres Romero won the event in Avondale, La., closing with a 4-under 68 for a one-stroke victory over Peter Lonard. Romero finished with a 13-under 275 total. Lonard had a chance to force a playoff but missed a long birdie putt on No. 18.
Champions Ginn Championship -- Bernhard Langer won in Palm Coast, Fla., shooting a 1-under 71 in windy conditions for an eight-stroke victory over Lonnie Nielsen (77) and Tim Simpson (75). Langer finished at 12-under 204. Former Maryland coach Fred Funk (77) and Joe Ozaki (74) tied for fourth at 3-under.
Els -- Ernie Els withdrew from the Houston Open because of a virus, giving him an unexpected two weeks off before going to the Masters.
