The Baltimore Sun

The stars were fortuitously aligned Thursday night at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, resulting in one of the season's most gratifying concerts. It wasn't just that Marin Alsop and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra operated on a consistently high level of expressive commitment (occasional shortcomings in the playing didn't ultimately matter too much).

If you go The BSO performs at 8 tonight at the Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda, and at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, 1212 Cathedral St. Tickets $40-$84. 410-783-8000, 877-270-1444 or go to bsomusic.org.
