Player of the Year Troy Franklin Mount Carmel
Franklin can shoot from long range, drive the lane and play great defense. It's his quickness, though, that truly makes him a special player.
"We've played a lot of great teams and I think he's one of the quickest players, if not the quickest player, in the area with the ball," Mount Carmel coach Tom Rose said.
That quickness often exposed opposing defenses. Franklin averaged 17.9 points, 5.5 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 3.6 steals this season for the Cougars. The Towson-bound senior had 21 points, six assists, four steals and two blocks in a 58-50 victory in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference championship game over St. Mary's.

Tom Rose
Mount Carmel
Mount Carmel and St. Mary's have built quite a rivalry in the MIAA B Conference. After winning the title two years ago, the Cougars lost the three times to the Saints last season, including the conference title game.
Rose and a senior-laden group made sure this season was different.
"I think that this team did an outstanding job," Rose said. "Having lost to St. Mary's three times last year, for us to be able to come back this year and beat them twice says a lot about our kids' ability to bounce back."
Mount Carmel (25-3) finished the season ranked No. 7 and had just one loss in the B Conference. The team
