Severn beats Broadneck

Josie Owen's game-high five goals powered No. 4 Severn past seventh-ranked Broadneck, 14-7, in girls lacrosse at the Anne Arundel Community College Tournament.

The Admirals (2-1) took an early 3-0 lead before the Bruins tied the score at 4. But the Admirals were too much and took a 6-4 lead at halftime and never looked back. Kari Ellen Johnson paced Broadneck with four scores.

South River 10, No. 13 Westminster 9 -- Brooke Griffin scored three goals to lead the Seahawks past the Owls. Stephanie Peterson and Ali Mattingly had two goals apiece in the win. Alyssa Semone led all players with five goals in the loss.

Annapolis 7, Urbana 7 -- Jordynn Collins and Kelsey Heine scored three goals apiece as the Hawks (1-0-1) tied the Panthers at the Anne Arundel Community College Tournament.


No. 1 Chesapeake-AA 5, No. 8 Seton Keough 2 -- The top-ranked Cougars got a double and run scored from Brianna Prince in the fourth for the only extra-base hit of the day. No. 8 Seton Keough's runs came when Michelle Campbell singled home Hyson and when Casey Morseberger scored on a Chesapeake error.
