C-SPAN to bring Campaign 2008 bus to county

C-SPAN will bring its Campaign 2008 bus to the county tomorrow as part of its "Road to the White House" tour.

The red, white and blue bus will visit the Cockeysville library, 9833 Greenside Drive, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Towson University, 8000 York Road, from noon to 2 p.m.

The 45-foot-long mobile production studio is used in C-SPAN's political coverage and in educational programs for teachers and students.

In Baltimore County, C-SPAN is on Comcast cable Channel 16; C-SPAN2 is on Channel 17 or 104; and C-SPAN 3 is on Channel 105.

Towson

Navy Band to play at Center for Arts

The U.S. Navy Band will perform in concert at 8:15 p.m. Saturday at Towson University Center for the Arts concert hall.

Under the direction of Lt. Cmdr. Richard H. Bailey, the band will perform marches and selections from the classics. Towson student musicians will join the Navy Band in John Philip Sousa's "The Washington Post" march.

Goucher College

Author Sofer to offer reading of her work

Dalia Sofer, author of The Septembers of Shiraz, will hold a free public reading at 8 p.m. tomorrow in Goucher College's Alumnae House.

Sofer's semi-autobiographical novel is set in Tehran after the 1979 Iranian revolution and describes the journey of a Jewish family whose father is imprisoned in the first years of revolutionary Iran.

The 24th annual Women Writing About Women Symposium includes a student reading featuring symposium contest winners at 6:30 p.m.

Catonsville

Woodcarving show slated this weekend

The Baltimore Area Woodcarving Show, sponsored by the county Department of Aging and Catonsville Senior Center Council, will be held Saturday and Sunday at the center, 501 N. Rolling Road.

The show will run from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Awards will be given in several categories.

Admission is $3.
