Two men fatally shot in separate incidents
A 21-year-old Northeast Baltimore man was found slain in an alley, one of two homicides yesterday, police said.
David Andrew Rankin was pronounced dead shortly after police found him about 7:20 a.m. in the 3700 block of Ravenwood Ave., said Officer Nicole Monroe, a Police Department spokeswoman. He was lying face-down, with a gunshot wound to the head.
Rankin had left his home in the 4500 block of Parkside Drive about 3 a.m. yesterday in a car with unknown individuals, Monroe said. The alley where his body was discovered four hours later is about a mile from his home.
He was arrested March 15 and charged with drug possession but had no prior adult criminal record in Baltimore, according to police and court documents.
Last night, police found an unidentified man shot dead in the 3400 block of Wilkens Ave. in Southwest Baltimore.
The man was found about 6:40 p.m. and taken to Shock Trauma, where he was pronounced dead, Monroe said.
Police had no suspects and knew of no motive in the killing. Officials said they expect to release more information about the slain man today.
